The two nights
A trunk is a scheduled deck, not a job. It runs whether one consignor has filled it or nine have. The west run leaves at 19:10 on an 18-tonne curtainsider and works down the coast road through Cardiff, Bridgend, Port Talbot and Swansea. It is back on the yard by 23:40 with whatever the last call put on the deck. The east run leaves at 04:30 on an artic and crosses the Severn for Avonmouth, Bristol and Swindon. It is back at 11:00 and the card comes off the vehicle the same hour.
Because the deck is scheduled, the question at booking is never whether a vehicle is going. It is whether your freight is standing in the yard when that vehicle loads. Everything on this page is written to answer that one question. Times given are the times the desk plans to. A closed crossing or a bay that is not ready moves them, and the desk rings the delivery contact when it does.
Both runs are single-driver. The sheet is built backwards from the last delivery window and checked against the driving block before the break. Where a drop cannot be reached inside the block it moves to the other run or waits a night. The desk states which at booking rather than loading it and finding out.

Down the coast, west
- 19:10 Newport yard
- Deck loaded in drop order, headboard first. Sheet, keys and consignment notes issued at the office window.
- 19:55 Cardiff, Rover Way
- Signed at the gatehouse. Four pallets off, curtains re-strapped before the vehicle moves.
- 20:50 Bridgend
- Tail-lift drop with one man on the bay. Send a gate reference if the estate gate closes at 21:00.
- 21:40 Port Talbot
- Banksman meets the vehicle. The driver stays in the cab until the site signals him on.
- 22:25 Swansea Enterprise Park
- Last call west. Two off, six on where a back-load is booked for the morning round.
- 23:40 Newport yard
- Back-load in, vehicle checked, curtains strapped. Signed notes go in the tray for scanning.
Over the bridge, east
- 04:30 Newport yard
- Walk-round check before pull-out. Defects go to the yard by phone, not into a book at the end of the shift.
- 05:20 Magor
- Three on, pallet exchange settled on the yard. State the exchange count at booking.
- 06:10 Avonmouth
- Booking slot 06:00 to 07:00. The vehicle queues for the slot it holds and no other.
- 07:30 Bristol, Emersons Green
- Window closes 08:00. Freight for this drop is loaded within reach of the tail, not behind the Swindon pallets.
- 09:15 Swindon
- Far end of the run. The 45-minute break is taken here, so the site has the vehicle for the full window.
- 11:00 Newport yard
- Empties in, card downloaded, sheet closed against the scanned notes.
Getting freight onto a deck
Write to the desk with the collection postcode, the delivery postcode, the pallet count and the ready time. Name the run you want if you already know it. The desk replies with the leg, the yard cut-off that applies and a consignment note reference. Quote that reference on anything you send afterwards.
Freight travels palletised, caged or crated, strapped and labelled on every face a forklift can read. Stackable loads take the upper tier on a full deck, so mark anything that must stay on the floor. Height over two metres goes on the booking, not on the driver.
A part load that misses its cut-off stands at the yard under cover and goes on the next deck in that direction. The desk names the new pull-out in writing the same working day. For how a part load is staged and banded, read part loads. To count the spaces your own consignment takes, use the trailer plan on the run sheet page.
Bookings and everything else to haulage@jztransit.live. Desk hours are 06:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday, with trunk cover from 04:00 on running nights.
